Three years ago today Declan Thomas was born...
The morning of March 26th 2007 i looked in the mirror as i was putting on my mascara and said, "I'm just so sick of looking at this fat face every day". I knew soon enough my little boy would be here. So, i get in my car and drive to work (la la laaaaa). I waddle into Atwater General through the shop and toward the office. Open the first door past the lab and start to open the second door.... uh oh, my water broke. I open the door say hi to Jay and Heather and make a beeline to the bathroom (the office is super small so it was a short quick trip). I came out and said my water broke I'm going to the hospital... Jay caught on quicker then Heather (who just smiled at me). I quickly got to the car and called Mark... Babe turn around my water broke, I'll meet you at home.
***I should mention Declan's due date was April 17th so this was not expected***
We both got home finished packing our overnight bags and took off for the hospital (fast forward past parking the car and walking into the ER). I sat down at the registration desk to get us checked in (ff) then stood up for my ride to the room and wooosh.... the rest of my water broke....ewww wet pants do not feel good, and my shoes were sloshy...
Get to the room and try to ride the waves of pain....OUCH! get me drugs....
Drugs on board.... waiting it out... time to push....
He came out and i grabbed him right away but he was making a funny crying sound....
He had Transient Tachypnea: About 1% of all newborns develop TTN, which usually eases after a few days with treatment. Babies born with TTN need special monitoring and treatment while in the hospital, but afterwards most make a full recovery, with no lasting effect on growth and development.
Oy Vey! He was in the NICU for 5 days and couldn't be held for a lot of it....
But now he is 3 a "big boy" who likes skateboards, blue bicycles and legos.... Where does the time go...
I LOVE YOU DECLAN! Happy Birthday :)
